Washington D.C. Trip Rules
Each Student’s behavior represents his/her family, his/her school, his/her community, and his/her country. All school rules apply, including dress code.
- Students must limit baggage to one suitcase and one carry-on piece. Rooms and luggage can be checked by chaperones at any time. There will be a bag search by staff and K9 dogs completed prior to leaving on the trip (more info will follow on this).
- Students are responsible for their conduct in regards to both public and private property. Rooms must be kept clean. Students in a room are equally responsible for any damage to the room and will share monetary costs.
- Students will obey lights out rule (10:00 PM).
- Students are always responsible to chaperones and must follow directions of all chaperones on the trip.
- The buddy plan must be followed at all times.
- All medication must be held by the nurses and a medication form for the trip must be filed. If a student is found with any medication he/she will face severe discipline which could include suspension from school upon return from D.C. All medication should be in its original packaging.
- Shoplifting cases will be handled by D.C. police.
- If a student hazes, fights with, threatens, or in any way harms or intimidates another student, he/she will be sent home at the parent/guardian's’ expense.
- Parents/Guardians can be called anytime of the day or night if a student is experiencing or causing a problem. The parent will be asked to provide immediate transportation home for the student.
- Disciplinary action will result from failure to follow the rules.
If, on the D.C. trip, a student violates an established rule or policy, the chaperones in charge have the responsibility of disciplining the student using the following guidelines:
- If the violation occurs prior to the trip, students will not be allowed to participate.
- If the violation occurs while the trip is in progress, the student is to be notified immediately and parents will be called and informed of the incident. Parents will need to make arrangements for the student’s immediate return home.
